Mr. Georgi Georgiev was born on May 26, 1986. He graduated at the Sofia University, Faculty of Law in 2010. In 2011 – 2012 he obtained his master degree in International Business Law at the King’s College of London.
Georgi specializes in the area of law of capital markets (Securitization and Derivatives, Syndicated loans, international bonds and Project Finance) and European and Comparative Company Law. In 2007 he took part in courses on Contract Law and English Legal Methods at the University of Cambridge, while in 2009 he took part in classes in English Company Law and Corporate governance at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also attended training programs in arbitration and ADR at the Court of Arbitration with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Georgi trained at the Banking Supervision Department of the Bulgarian National Bank, and at the Legal Department of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange. He also participated in the joint internship programme between Sofia District Court and the Fulbright Commission in Bulgaria.
In 2012 Georgi was appointed as a country researcher for Bulgaria in a EU-funded project run by the London School of Economics and Political Science with the aim of surveying the legislation and case-law of the member states in the field of corporate governance. From 2013 until June 2016 he was PT A/Prof. at the Law School in the University of National and World Economy in Sofia. In March, 2016 he was appointed as A/Prof. in Corporate and Commercial Law at Law Faculty of Sofia University. His main areas of interests are Corporate and Commercial Law, Insolvency, Securities and Arbitration.
